In this post I shall be selecting five different types of photography and commenting on them; saying what I like about the particular pictures I have chosen. I will also be any techniques I recognise in the images.
Architectural Photography
The image on the left is by a user on Flickr by the name HKmPUA. This image uses a low angled shot which looks up on skyscrapers - making the viewer feel small while looking at the picture. The image also uses contrast between light and dark. With the image being taken at nighttime in a city the picture makes use of the light given off by the buildings. One thing I like about this image is the building with the blue zig-zag line as for me it draws the most attention.
The image on the right is by a photographer called Anthony Weller - an architectural photographer. Unlike the first image, this image is looking down. Lighting is provided by the lights inside the building. What I like about this image is the space to the right hand side because of the people shown as well as the escalator: both of these features show how high up the picture was taken. I also like how the picture shows the sculpture diagonally from near to far.

Fashion Photography
The image on the left is by Werner Schlaghecken. This image makes use of a portrait shot, showing the model's shoulders - as well as light pastel colours and dark colours such as black and grey: these colours create contrast between light and dark. I chose this image because I like the colours that were chosen in this image; as well as the flowers that are in the model's hair. The flowers could represent a creative or explosive mind but could also be linked to open mindedness. The model also has a peaceful look on her face; symbolising happiness and calmness. Lighting has been used from above to faintly shadow the model's neck and chest.
The image to the right is by a photographer named Rankin. This photo also makes use of a mid/portrait shot featuring the model's shoulders. Bright colours are used throughout the photograph - these colours are mostly warm colours (pinks, yellows and reds), however cold colours are present (blues, whites). Lighting has been used from the direction the model is looking to shade her collar bones and the top of her neck. Unlike the model in the previous picture, the model in this picture appears surprised. I chose this picture because I like the colours that are featured as well as the lighting that was used.

Illustration Photography
The image to the left is by Nithin Rao Kumblekar. Lighting is used from in-front of the model to create a shadow behind him. His pose coupled with the illustration gives the impression of power as it looks like the ocean is being parted. Mostly warm colours are used in this image with the exception of a few colder colours. The model is wearing mostly black which has connotations of power: this can be seen by the ocean parting. I chose this image because I liked the illustration and the sense of power that is present in the image.
The image on the right is by Victor Eredel. Natural lighting has been used in the background of the image and artificial lighting has been used to light the ground in-front of the camera. The illustration used in this image seems to be of a deer and a looming monster or shadow. This may represent fear, anxiety or constant danger. Colours used in this image consist of mostly browns with a few oranges and greens in the background seeing as though it was taken in a forest. I chose this image because I am fond of the illustrations used as well as the sunlight used as a backlight.
